What driving style makes pedestrians think a passing vehicle is driving automatically?

چکیده

An important question in the development of automated vehicles (AVs) is which driving style AVs should adopt and how other road users perceive them. The current study aimed to determine AV behaviours contribute pedestrians' judgements as whether vehicle manually or automatically well likeability. We tested five target trajectories an curves: playback manual driving, two stereotypical conditions (road centre tendency, lane tendency), conditions, slowed down for curves cut curves. In addition, four braking patterns approaching a zebra crossing were tested: braking, (fixed deceleration), variations (sudden stop, crawling forward). was observed by 24 participants standing on curb groups. After each passing AV, rated car driven automatically, degree they liked AV's behaviour. Results showed that trajectory considered more than conditions. stereotype ‘road tendency’ ‘lane received similar likeability ratings driving. analysis written comments curve cutting reason believe manually, whereas at constant speed associated with sudden stop least likeable way decelerate, but there no consensus this behaviour automated. It concluded do not have drive like human order be liked. • pedestrians automaticity 5 4 profiles vehicle. Stereotype tested. Driving near liked, Curve Automated

Electric Vehicle Driving Style and Duty Variation Performance Study

Cenex, the UK’s centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, is currently deploying electric passenger cars and vans throughout the UK in a series of Government funded low carbon vehicle trials. This study, produced in partnership with Millbrook Proving Ground, investigates comments and concludes on energy consumption in electric vehicles with varying driving styles and drivi...

A Virtual Driving System for Enhancing Efficient Driving Style

This paper proposes a virtual driving system for enhancing efficient driving style. We compared fuel economies and levels of consumable wear on three driving simulation test (none, visual, visual+auditory). The test results show that higher fuel economy can be achieved and consumable wear be reduced when they received feedback from the proposed system compared to driving without eco-driving tra...

A real-time recursive dynamic model for vehicle driving simulators

This paper presents the Real-Time Recursive Dynamics (RTRD) model that is developed for driving simulators. The model could be implemented in the Driving Simulator. The RTRD can also be used for off-line high-speed dynamics analysis, compared with commercial multibody dynamics codes, to speed up mechanical design process. An overview of RTRD is presented in the paper. Basic models for specific ...

Driver Identification by Driving Style

From optimizing a car’s performance, encouraging safer driving to accurate insurance pricing, it is desirable to be able to identify a driver by his driving style. Using a car data supplied by MetroMile Inc., driving styles were analyzed and core features were extracted. Two learning models were investigated and evaluated:support vector machine (SVM) and multinomial logistic regression. High ac...

Evolutionary genetics: What is driving male mutation?

In mammals, most new mutations occur in males. But a study of the evolution of a human X to Y chromosomal translocation has revealed a sex bias much lower than previous estimates. Patterns of substitution suggest that differential methylation between male and female germ lines is a key determinant of the mutation rate.
